Hanuman Chatti is a Hindu temple near Badrinath Temple in Uttarakhand.The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Hanuman, and the temple derives i ts name from an interesting mythological event involving Hanuman and Bhima.The history of Hanuman Chatti is that once, Bhima, the strongest of the Pandava brothers, was walking along a path through the region in which now the temple is present. However, he encountered a monkey lying in his path with its tail spread out such that Bhima could not pass.He asked the monkey to move his tail aside and let him pass. However, the monkey complained that he was too old to move. At this, Bhima became angry and tried to move the monkey’s tail himself. But even after several attempts, he was unable to do so.By this time, Bhima realised that this monkey is not ordinary, and hence, requested the monkey to reveal his true form.
