Dhari Devi Temple is a Hindu temple in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. The temple is for Goddess Dhari and contains the upper half of the idol of the goddess, while the lower half is present in Kalimath. In Kalimath, devotees worship her as a form of Goddess Kali. This shrine is one of 108 Shakti Sthals in India, as numbered by Srimad Devi Bhagwat.According to the history of Dhari Devi temple, once the temple got washed away with floodwater and the idol of the goddess got stuck on a rock. As per beliefs, the inhabitants of a neighbouring village ‘Dharo’ heard the voice of the goddess calling out to them. They then fixed the idol and hence, the temple became famous as ‘Dhari Devi Temple’ after the name of the village. Devotees also believe that the idol of the goddess is not to be placed withing an enclosure or under a roof. Hence, the idol is placed such that there is always open sky above it. .. Read More
